OUR STORY
It was 2017, father and son (Klaus and Bernie) dreamt of creating a gin that would capture the essence of a place close to their hearts - Namibia. A country woven into their family’s history and one that holds treasured childhood memories for both generations.

Ideas swirled and a vision took shape of a gin brand that would embody the breathtaking beauty of Namibia’s unique landscapes.
Bernie and Klaus immersed themselves in the art of distilling gin, dedicating the next several years to learning the craft and exploring hundreds of botanical combinations.

They called it Omavi Omeya, meaning Sand + Water in Oshiwambo, after two natural elements that shape Namibia’s landscape.
The most dramatic illustration of these elements is along the edge of the Namib desert where the towering sand dunes meet the wild Atlantic waves. A beautiful contrast of dry desert air and a refreshing coastal breeze inspired the North star for each recipe:
a perfectly balanced, dry yet refreshing gin.

In 2023, Omavi Omeya entered a new era.
Bernie & Klaus passed the torch to Sabine (sister/daughter) and her husband Tanner. Along with it came a fresh new look for the bottles and a new home base for the company - Swakopmund, Namibia.
